lets take a hypothetical example: A student from a commerce background enters a B-school.. he enjoys fin subjects as they are his area of comfort and he enjoys studying them too.. till date he has had no work-ex and is straight out of college.. he doesn't have any big dreams or so but want to work to his full potential and can take up any challenges thrown to him by life.. now in due course of his post grad he gets a chance to do an internship and he lands up in a project involving sales and marketing .. he takes it up, enjoys his internship and puts a lot of effort in the project.. now he comes back to campus for his next one year of study.. its time for him to choose his specialisation.. since he was very much interested in fin subjects, he laps up mostly all fin courses offered cos in earlier terms he has studied marketing and realised that marketing is an inherent thing and can't be taught in a classroom scenario..
all is goin fine when one day suddenly someone asks him as to what is his dream company?.. he is puzzled, confused, totally clueless as to wat he shud say.. so he decides he will think over it.. now followin are the dilemmas he is facing:
- Would a finance job would be liked by him just because he likes fin subjects?
- Even if a fin job is one he would like to go for, which kind of role would suit him?
- What if after entering a finance job he realises that this is not the kind of job he can do rest of his life, and thus decides to take a sales/marketing position based on his summers experience. Would he be easily able to switch over?
- What all should be looked in while choosing a dream company or a dream job?
