Book review: From the Brink of Bankruptcy the DCM Story by Vinay Bharat-Ram
"This book covers the story of DCM group over 4 generations in brief with author digressing many times to delve on his own passion of music/ economics etc. Author has forthrightly highlighted many wrong decisions they took but it seems much more is hidden then revealed. DCM group is a classic case study of being one of most reputed business house in 50s-70s, going downhill slowly thereafter and missing the proverbial high growth bus of India post liberalization. Book also has lot of name-throwing in a true Delhi-wallah style. However, best lines from book for me is "I recall the long, lonely drives through semi-desert areas, where one could catch an occasional glimpse of a tiny village. We had to stop the car frequently to allow herds of thousands of deer to cross the road. They seemed to fly above the ground, with the young bucks suspended in the air for a fleeting magic moment. Many would sail gracefully over the bonnet of the car".. so beautiful.. wish i was in that car."
